About Us

At SpicePuppy.com, we know your time is valuable. We know your patience is limited. We know you want to read interesting things.

That's why we bring you high-quality content on many different topics, all in one place. And what's more, we let you share your great thoughts with the world.

So go ahead, read some posts on a subject that interests you. Then make a post of your own, and link it to your blog or your favorite site. Show us how wise and stylish you are, and make a name for yourself here.

And don't feel bad if our editors don't approve everything you submit. After all, our readers expect the best.

Benefits for readers

The web is a big place, and the rampant proliferation of blogs has given everyone a voice in it. We simply want to provide a means for people to hear the good voices over the bad. Take a look and you'll find that we have something for everyone.

All posts on our site have been carefully screened to ensure that they're family friendly, free of spam, substantial, and just plain good. And unlike many sites out there, we don't squeeze our posts into miniscule fonts and plaster them with so many ads that you have to ask "where's the beef?" We've been fighting Blogal Warming since 2007.

Benefits for writers

Many people try to drive traffic to their site by posting a bunch of empty "me too" comments throughout the blogosphere. Instead of just doing that, why not take the time to write some great posts that showcase your talents, submit them here, and give your site a new stream of interested visitors, people who otherwise might never find you? You can still put your post on your own site after waiting three days.

Did you know that posting comments with your URL on practically any blog will not help your search engine rankings at all? This is because just about every blog automatically adds rel="nofollow" to your link, telling search engines not to give it any credit for fear that it might be spam. Our philosophy is simple: make a real post, get a real link.

Where does the name "SpicePuppy" come from?

It mainly comes from the time one of us was writing a post and thought, "This isn't good enough. I need to spice this puppy up." Thus, SpicePuppy refers to quality content.

Also, notice that the words spice and puppy are similar to yin and yang, representing opposing but complementary principles. Spice is hot, fiery, zesty, and intense, while a puppy is cute and innocent. Then again, spice and puppy can refer to the sexes, according to a famous nursery rhyme (sugar and spice and everything nice, vs. snips and snails and puppy dog tails). Thus, the name SpicePuppy symbolizes the tremendous diversity of our content and our audience. As Robert Heinlein said, "specialization is for insects."
